Conciliation Resources

CR provides dedicated expertise to the EU-CIVCAP project by allowing the project to benefit from first-hand experience in conflict areas in order to gather lessons learned and best practices regarding the inclusion of civil society in conflict prevention activities. CR provides practical support to help people affected by violent conflict achieve lasting peace and has a presence in a wide number of regions affected by conflict around the world from the Caucasus to West Africa. CR will contribute in particular to task 3.3 (Assess the impact of EU support to conflict prevention carried out by others) and deliverable 3.5 (Reports on EU support to conflict prevention work of others and its impact). It will do this firstly by examining the support of local actors including civil society in conflict analysis and prevention, deriving lessons, options and opportunities. Secondly, it will achieve this by providing an analysis of community protection mechanisms in conflict early warning, mitigation and management: lessons, including for the EU, from Nigeria Plateau State, Eastern DRC and South Sudan.
