Giovanni Faleg

Giovanni Faleg is a former EU-CIVCAP Staff Member. This profile represents his biography at the time he worked for the project.

Giovanni is associate research fellow in security and defence at the Centre for European Policy Studies, Europe in the World Unit (2011-present), and a consultant at the World Bank Group in governance and fragility (2014-present). He holds a Ph.D. in European Studies from the London School of Economics and Political Science (2014).

Giovanni has six years of experience in academic, policy-oriented research, and consultancy with governments and international organisations. His areas of expertise include European integration, European security (CSDP-NATO), EU foreign policy towards the Southern neighborhood, development assistance, in particular the nexus between security, humanitarian aid and development, transatlantic relations, Italy’s foreign and security policies.

He is author of the book The EU’s Common Security and Defence Policy: Learning Communities in International Organizations (Palgrave Macmillan, 2016) and has been co-rapporteur of the Task Force More Union on European Defence, chaired by Javier Solana (CEPS, 2015).
